So with a new year starting I decided to participate in a new photo project. Last year I attempted a 365 project but failed by time February rolled around. This year I am attempting 12 month project.  I think I will do much better with a 1 photo a month project as opposed to one photo everyday. So this months theme is Window.  I decided to go with window light.

So as I was walking past my son's bedroom the other day I spotted this lone dragon basking in a tiny ray of sunlight that was coming in through his window.  Now with him at school all day I love finding these little reminders of him throughout the house.

There is a fabulous group of ladies who are also participating in this project with me. Head on over to   http://www.stacyespinoza.com/2016/02/01/frommywindow/  to see her photo for this months theme!

N. Rivest, 4 months 2015 https://dawnbaer.zenfolio.com/blog/2015/11/n-rivest-4-months-2015 I just love being able to document the growth and milestones of my littlest clients.  Last time I saw this cutie was in the hospital the day after she was born!  She has grown so much and changed so much in the past 3 months!

Look at this little sweetie!

Eating her hands is her favorite pastime at the moment!

N wasn't really sure about my camera so we had a lot of serious faces throughout the session. As soon as I would put my camera down she would start smiling.

Little teeny tiny smile in this last photo.

Love baby feet!

Sometimes a photo session is just exhausting and you need a little nap.  Look at those little lips!!  Love!

It was so good seeing you again little N.  I hope to see you soon when you are sitting up and and playing!

Lynch 2015 https://dawnbaer.zenfolio.com/blog/2015/11/lynch-2015 I had the opportunity to photograph another beautiful senior last week!!  We had such a fun time despite the wind, clouds and rain at the end of our session!

Look at the smile!

Told ya, we had some fun!

Funny story about the serious face, we had to try about 10 times to get it because we couldn't stop laughing!  As soon as you tell someone to do a serious look they will crack a smile!

Stunning!!!

Very last photo of the session. It was almost dark out and it was raining on us but I am glad Megan was a good sport and let me snap this last one!

Good luck to you Megan on your future plans!!  I can't wait to hear what college you decide to go to!

The first day of school! https://dawnbaer.zenfolio.com/blog/2015/8/the-first-day-of-school Well today was the big day!  The first day of school for both my kids.  I thought that today was going to be so hard because I was sending my little man off to kindergarten.  Surprisingly though it wasn't nearly as hard as when I sent my daughter to kindergarten. I sobbed when her bus pulled away.  This time I was sad but was able to keep the tears inside and be brave for my son.  I knew he was nervous and hesitant so I couldn't let him see me feeling all the same feelings he was having.  In the end he got on that bus like the bravest boy on the planet. Not a single tear from either of us.  I am so proud of him.  Its still a sad day for me though because this is the end of an era. The end of the one of the biggest and most important chapters of my life.  I am lucky enough to be able to stay at home with my kids.  I have done the absolute best that I can in raising them and teaching them right from wrong.  I can only hope that it stays with them when they are away and at school.  So although I know one chapter has ended I also know that a new one is starting.  One where I can find myself again.  I've been a stay at home mom for 7 years. Now its time to do some things for myself.  Spend more time improving my photography, take a yoga class, catch up on a a whole season of Greys anatomy, or just drink a cup of coffee while its still hot.  I know this will be an an adjustment for all of us but I look forward to it!  On to bigger and better things!  So for all the moms out there that sent their babies off to school today know that this will be a fantastic time for you.  For all the moms out there that still have littles at home know that it will be over before you know it and you will be sending your last one to school.  I know so many people have told you to enjoy this time because you only have it once and its true but really cherish it!!

Look how ready he is!

This years selection was spiderman back pack and star wars shoes.

Big sister was very ready to go to school, so much so that she wasn't really feeling the photos today.....

My daughter went with monster high and sketcher tie shoes. No more velcro or light up shoes for her.  :(

There he goes for the bus. No hesitation!

And off she went.  I only got this one photo of her at school because as soon as we got there she spotted friends and ran off.

So it was great first day of school for both kids!  I can't wait to hear how their days went!

The Jania Family 2015 https://dawnbaer.zenfolio.com/blog/2015/8/the-jania-family-2015 I swear everytime I get together with this family I am always in stiches.  The kids are hysterical and the parents are good friends so of course its more laid back.  I am taking photos while catching up on the latest parenting adventures we have had.  I truly love seeing these kids grow and develop into their own little person.

I can't believe how old she is getting!

This is the guy who really keeps me laughing!

This little lady is just the sweetest!

Lol, boys will be boys!! Anyone remember the old Toyota commecials?  I kind of had a flash back to those commericals as I took these photos!

As always it was great catching up with you guys and I look forward to our next adventure!  xoxoxo

Baby Nora 2015 https://dawnbaer.zenfolio.com/blog/2015/8/baby-nora-2015 I had the most amazing opportunity last week to photograph a Fresh 48 session!  I absolutely loved the whole experience!  I have photographed this family several times and have known them for a few years and it was great getting to be a part of this special moment in all their lives.

Look at this sweet baby, loving on her mama!

There is nothing like seeing a brand new baby just a day after it was born.

Oh my goodness, look at this little angel!

This big brother is ready to be an awesome little helper for mom and dad!  He was so gentle and loving with baby Nora.

I love the look of awe and wonderment in the boys faces.  They will probably not remember this moment in a few years but this photo will be an awesome reminder for them!

I think this little princess has already stolen daddy's heart!

The day I got to visit was also Mom and Dad's anniversary!  What a great anniversary gift!

I love how Nora is sticking her tongue out and no one else sees it!

Austin finally gave his baby sister a little smooch!

Thank you so much Rivest family for inviting me to take photos during this very special time in your lives!  I loved every second of it!  I can't wait to see how this little one grows!

Allison and Ben 2015 https://dawnbaer.zenfolio.com/blog/2015/8/allison-and-ben-2015 Where does time go?  I once photographed this little girl's newborn photos and then went on to photograph her brother's newborn photos a year ago.  I often hear people say they wish they could freeze time.  I am lucky enough to be able to make that statement happen when I photograph families, children and life events.  That is the best part of my job!  Just freezing a brief moment in time for someone else to cherish for years to come!

This guy was on the move the whole time! So much to explore when you are 1!

Look at this sweet heart!

Look at me mom, I'm about ready to climb out of this crate!

This smile is contagious!

Sometimes you just need to twirl in the last light of the day!

As always it was a pleasure freezing time for these beautiful children!  Loved being a part of such a special time in their lives!

Rivest Family 2015 https://dawnbaer.zenfolio.com/blog/2015/6/rivest-family-2015 Hello everyone!  I have got some great photos to share with you from my last family/maternity session last week.  We had a busy session and everyone was a trooper even though the mosquitos were biting and there was a storm brewing!

Look at this beautiful family with one more on the way!

These two brothers are going to be awesome big brothers!

Doesn't get more handsome then these two!

Glowing with excitement!

Stunning!

Smooches for mama!

One of the boys favorite activities of the evening was throwing rocks into a little pond.  I swear that could've easily occupied them for at least an hour!

After our time at the pond we took a little walk to the park.

Perfect way to wrap up our session!  Many thanks to the Rivest family for letting me capture this special time in your lives and I can't wait to meet the newest addition in a few weeks!

Mike and Carly's Wedding Shower https://dawnbaer.zenfolio.com/blog/2015/5/mike-and-carlys-wedding-shower A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of photographing one of the most beautiful country chic wedding showers, EVER!  I was so excited to be a part of this magical day for Mike and Carly.  I have known Carly for a few years now and more closely in recent months because she is a true fitness inspiration to me! Mike and Carly are such a great couple, beautiful inside and out. So lets just get down to all the amazing moments of this special day!

The shower was hosted at Carly's friend's property which was simply beautiful.  Her friend Tommy also happens to be a chef which you'll see his amazing creations in a minute. He and his wife were such sweet people and know how to host an amazing event!

Originally the party was to be hosted outside but unfortunately it was raining that day so the party was moved into the green house.  That just added to the atmosphere and it turned out great!

No detail was left out. Everything was so well thought out and just beautiful!

How cute are those handmade blocks!?  Love it!

Soon to be Bride giving her mom a big ol hug!! Carly's mom is one of the nicest people I know!

Here is the wonderful Maid of Honor!  So much love here!

Here is Tommy the host and chef!  Seriously some amazing talent!

The Happy Couple!!  You guys are adorable!

Ok now lets talk about the food for just a second.  This was the first thing that was presented.

Uh, yes everthing was as delicious as it looks!

Look at this beautiful spread!

Last but definitely not least was gelato bars that Tommy also made.  This one here was a banana gelato with a salted caramel sauce.

It was a beautiful day even if it rained.  Amazing people and lots of laughs were had! Thank you so much Carly and Mike for giving me such a great opportunity to capture this special day for you.  I know your wedding is going to be spectacular and so will your marriage!  Much love to the both of you!!

Noelle and Nevaeh Turn 1!! https://dawnbaer.zenfolio.com/blog/2015/4/noelle-and-navaeh-turn-1 So I got to meet the cutest little girls a couple of weeks ago.  I mean I just wanted to play with these little ones all afternoon!  So adorable!  Noelle and Nevaeh are turning ONE!  How exciting!  Mom wanted to make this a very special photo session with balloons and cake and the most adorable outfits. How could I say no to any of that!? It was so great meeting these cutie pies!

This is Nevaeh! At first she seemed like the quiet and reserved one but by the end of the session she was nothing but laughs and giggles!  She just needed a little time to warm up.

Look at those eye lashes and perfect lips!  Just love!!!

This is Noelle!  She was very interested in all the balloons and keeping busy.  She definitely keeps mom on her toes at all times!

So sweet!

There we go with the smiles from both girls!

If only we could read their thoughts....  I feel like they are saying, "Hey we look good! Look at these outfits!!"  This has to be one of my favorites of them interacting together.

And then it was time for CAKE!!  I absolutely loved this cake smash session because both girls were really loving it. Sometimes babies want nothing to do with it but these two girls went for it!!

Happy first birthday girls!!  Thank you so much for coming and spending the afternoon with me!  It was a pleasure meeting the both of you!

American Girl Doll Store Adventure! https://dawnbaer.zenfolio.com/blog/2015/1/american-girl-doll-store-adventure

Over Christmas break Abby and a few of her friends had the opportunity to visit the American Girl Doll store.  I knew we were going for over a month but kept it a secret because its more fun that way and also with the amount of viruses floating around I didn't want to tell her and then have to break her heart if we had to cancel because someone got sick.  So the day before the big trip we saw a commerical for American Girl and she asked when we could go to the store and with the most serious face I said, "How about tomorrow?"  The look on her face was priceless!  What I didn't tell her was that 3 of her friends were also coming with.  Always have to keep a little something in my back pocket.....  So the big day had arrived and we drove to her friend's house where we were all meeting.  Another fun surprise when she realized who was going!

We finally made it!!

Immediately the girls were mesmerized!  I had never been to American Girl before and I have to admit that it really is something.  I can't imagine what I would've been like if I was in their shoes.  So much to see and take in.

I don't know what the fascination was with this chair but all the girls had to take a turn sitting in it, lol!

Quick pose with Caroline in the background. It was really hard to get any real good photos because the girls just wanted to explore.

The displays at the store were pretty cool!  So much detail and thought for a doll store.

One of the activities you can do at the store is have your dolls ears pierced. So of course we went ahead and did that. They also have a hair salon and a hospital for the dolls.

Here's a photo after most the dolls got their ears pierced.  No tears out of any of them.  :)

After ear piercing we had lunch at the cafe.  Its quite the production for meals at the cafe. You are only seated at certain times and its highly suggested to have reservations.  I must say though that no detail was left out.  They had seats for all the dolls along with a little tea cup and saucer that was ours to take home.  Also there was a little box of cards on the table that the had questions on them that kept the girls busy while we waited for our food.

It was an all day adventure but I think in the end the girls really enjoyed it and I enjoyed seeing them explore the store.

Baby Bernadette, 16 days new! https://dawnbaer.zenfolio.com/blog/2015/1/baby-bernadette-16-days-new So on the first day of 2015 I got to spend the morning with a sweet little babe.  My cousin had baby number 3, 16 days prior!  What an absolute blast they are having with their twins and now baby Bernadette!  Bernadette is usually a super awesome sleeper, at least that's what I witnessed at our christmas gathering and I was all set for a super sleepy baby.  Bernadette had other plans the day I stopped by, lol!  That's ok though because we still had an amazing session and I like to think that she was just fascinated with the whole photo session and didn't want to miss a second of it!

I am ready for my close up!!!

See it looks like she is sleeping here but she is really taking really long blink breaks, Lol!  The only time she would close her eyes was when Mom put her hand on her chest.  Look at that content look in the bottom photo.  Mom has magic hands!

Look at those perfect lips!

OMG She is smiling for us!!  Absolutely love it!

Perfect in every possible way!

More smiles and happy to be in mom's arms!

Just beautiful!!

And when I got this look out of her I knew our session was done!  She rocked her first photo session and it was seriously my pleasure to come and take her photos!  Gaelen and Tim I love you both to pieces and am so glad that I could capture this amazing moment!  By the way, you two do good work!

DeYoung Family 2014 https://dawnbaer.zenfolio.com/blog/2014/11/deyoung-family-2014 I always love meeting new clients and the DeYoung family was no exception.  We had a great session! Luke did awesome for his first official photo session. It was chilly that day but he was a trooper!

Seriously, look at this adorable face!

6 month olds always have the best expressions as they are still discovering the big world around them. It also is fun to watch them when mom and dad are being silly behind me, lol!

So often parents want their children to look at the camera and smile but for me its the shots like this that really make the memory!  Absolutely love seeing such sweet interaction with families!

Who doesn't love a baby in a crate!?  So cute!

I always try to get a few photos of just mom and dad because they deserve to be in the spotlight too!  They are working hard behind the scenes raising a beautiful baby boy!

It was so great meeting all of you!  I am glad that we were able to find one more nice day to capture this amazing time in your lives!

I had a session last week that was so much fun!  I got to meet the cutest little 19 month old!  She had her own agenda but we got some great photos of her just being a typical 19 month old.

Its a bird, its a plane, nope its a super girl flying through the air!  She was loving her daddy tossing her up into the air!  Looks like so much fun!

Doesn't get any cuter then this, does it?

You know, just hanging around!!

Look at those beautiful eyes!

We had a lot of fun at our session!  Lots of flying through the air and running!  Thank you so much for the opportunity to photograph you guys and your beautiful little girl!  It was a pleasure meeting all of you!

Jania Family 2014 https://dawnbaer.zenfolio.com/blog/2014/10/jania-family-2014 One of my first sessions of the fall!  Even though it was 80+ degrees this day, the trees were already changing and the mosquitos were ridiculous!  Mother Nature was a little out of sorts this day but that didn't stop us from having a fun time and capturing some amazing shots!

Look at these beautiful kids!

Love!

This little sweetheart steals the show everytime a camera shows up!

This guy is the comedian of all the kids, for sure!  Always keeps me laughing!

This young lady is the oldest and is such a great big sister!

Some serious faces and then some silliness!

We found just enough leaves to have some fun!

Just the guys!

These two crazy kids just celebrated their 11th wedding anniversay!

This might be one of my all time favorites!  Big sis was taking photos by herself and little sis hopped on in and then gave a nice big hug!  These are the moments that truly make my day and I am so blessed to have a job that allows me capture such candid moments!

As always I had a blast Jania family and thanks for asking me to capture all these sweet moments!

Owen is 6!! https://dawnbaer.zenfolio.com/blog/2014/9/owen-is-6 Well I truly don't know where the time went but my little buddy who I have been photographing since the very beginning of my photography journey is now 6!!  With each session I love seeing him get older. Such an amazing personality he has. Always a great time when I see him!!  We had a blast yet again this time around that ended in a trip to the ice cream shop, doesn't get any better then that!

And there is that personality I was talking about!

What little boy doesn't love throwing rocks into a pond?

The sweet reward of smiling for the camera!  Worth it!

Checking out some guitars and being silly!

Thanks again for an amazing time Owen!  You are a complete rockstar when it comes to taking photos!

Official Bike rider! https://dawnbaer.zenfolio.com/blog/2014/8/official-bike-rider So excited to post about Abby and her latest accomplishment!  She learned how to ride a bike with no training wheels a couple of weeks ago!  It was on our summer bucket list and we got it done!  She is so excited to be able to do this and I am so so proud of her!!

I can't take any credit for her learning how to ride on two wheels. It was all Steve doing the running and teaching.  So glad he was up for teaching her because I really did not want to be running behind that bike, lol!

She picked up the concept within 20 minutes.  Phew!  There were some falls and crashes but all in all I think she did great!  Alex enjoyed watching from a far.

Star pupil, right here!

And she's off!  What I love most about these photos is the smile on her face along with my husband. Everyone so excited and proud!

Look at that!  She's doing it!

Trucking!

So proud of Abby!

Couldn't leave these last few photos out. Alex enjoyed the swings while a majority of the learning was going on!

Austin, 6 months old! https://dawnbaer.zenfolio.com/blog/2014/8/austin-6-months-old

What a fun session I had with this little guy and his family!  I simply love 6 month olds!  They are sitting up on their own but not quite on the move yet and its usually pretty easy to get a smile out of them!

Seriously, the cuteness is too much!

Loved watching these two brothers interact with each other!  Austin is so interested in what his big brother Nate is up to!  Nate is being a great big brother!  "Hey buddy, let me straighten your bow tie for ya!"

Mr. Serious!

Big brother was loving all the bike traffic on the bridge!

Thank you for letting me capture such a fun age and great milestone!  As always it was great seeing all of you and meeting Austin!

Holloway Family https://dawnbaer.zenfolio.com/blog/2014/7/holloway-family What an amazing family I had the opportunity to photograph last week!  This session was so much fun!  So much love is shared within this family!  I left this session in such a great mood!  It was also beyond great to see a friend from high school who I haven't seen in probably 20 years!

Look at these beautiful sisters!  Thanks ladies for making this session a lot of fun!  So nice to have such willing models!

Aunt Jill with the girls!

Lovely ladies!

Wonderful family right here!

Just the girls!

I was beyond excited when the girls asked me if I could take their photo up in this tree!  Are you kidding me, I live for this kind of stuff!  Thanks for being so adventurous girls!

And here is the whole family!  What a great memory to capture!

Jill, I swear you have not changed one bit from high school!!!!

Love it!

Over 40 years of wedded bliss!  Makes my heart happy to meet couples that have been together this long!

Thank you so much Holloway family for such a great session and giving me the opportunity to photograph all of you!  It really was a great time and I enjoyed meeting all of you!  Jill, it was so great to see you again!

Benjamin 6 days new https://dawnbaer.zenfolio.com/blog/2014/7/benjamin-6-days-new I am super excited to introduce you to this sweet little guy I got to photograph a week ago!  Benjamin was one of the calmest newborns that I have had the pleasure of photographing.  He slept like an angel the whole time he was here without a single cry out of him.  He was the kind of baby that gives other moms baby fever, but I only had it while he was here. Once he left, the baby fever left with him.

Look at that adorable face!!  He gave me smiles 5 minutes into his session!!

Switched the set up with not even a stir.  He slept through the whole thing!

Of course we can't forget all the little newborn details, which for me is my favorite to photograph.  These are all the little things that change or disappear in a couple of weeks so I always try my best to capture them because they are so easily forgotten.

Congrats to the proud parents Jamie and Josh and big sister Allison!!  We couldn't be happier for all of you and can't wait to see Ben causing trouble with the boys when he gets bigger!  Much love to all of you!  Thank you for allowing me to capture such a sweet moment in time!

A magical dress up session! https://dawnbaer.zenfolio.com/blog/2014/5/a-magical-dress-up-session So a few weeks ago a good friend of mine called me up and told me about an idea she had that she wanted me to photograph.  I was beyond excited when she told me the idea.  She wanted to have her daughter dress up in her wedding gown!!  I have been wanting to do a session like this FOREVER!  Yes I should do this with my own daughter but my wedding dress is in a sealed box so I have been on the fence about taking it out and doing this with my own daughter.   I am beginning to think I may just break the seal on my wedding dress box and do this!  It was beyond fun!  Ok lets get back to business here and show you the fun we had!

How gorgeous is this little model!?  She is a natural at modeling!

So happy to be wearing all of mama's sparkles!

Then the veil came out!  I think this may have been the best part!

Stunning!

She posed herself in these photos, see a natural!!

Can't forget all the little details!

Ummmm, look at those eyelashes!!!  Wow she is one lucky girl!

And here is her beautiful mom!  What a wonderful moment that I had the pleasure of capturing!

I think these photos will be a wonderful thing to have as a keepsake but imagine how great it will be to have on display when this little girl is a grown woman on her own wedding day!  Gives me chills just thinking about it!  So for all you moms out there, myself included, take that wedding dress out of the sealed box and let your daughter try it on. It will make her day and give you an amazing feeling seeing her in it!!  Thank you Althea for allowing me to capture such a sweet moment!  It was really a magical session!

Kellie is going to be 3!!! https://dawnbaer.zenfolio.com/blog/2014/5/kellie-is-going-to-be-3 What a fun session I had with Kellie this past weekend!  She kept us all on our toes! If only I could figure out how to bottle up the energy of an almost 3 yr old!

Such a beautiful little girl!

I love this age because there is still so much wonderment in the little things!  Look mom, I am a butterfly!

Lots of giggles!!!

Love when I capture moments like this! All too often moms don't get to be in the photos because they are usually the ones taking the photos.

Perfection! Everyone is smiling and looking at the camera!

Time to spot the tadpoles and the big mama frog that was hanging out in the pond.

Kellie got to explore some super fun things while we were at the children's garden.

Can't handle all of Kellie's cuteness!

Love these shots!!  Such a little lady!

Look at all this love!  Happy early 3rd birthday Kellie!!  Hope its an amazing day for you!

Ainsley is One! https://dawnbaer.zenfolio.com/blog/2014/5/ainsley-is-one I had an awesome time photographing miss Ainsley for her first birthday!  She is an absolute doll!

I always have a blast when I photograph this family and Ainsley has such a fun personality like the her mom and dad and brother!

Such a great milestone!  The big ONE!

This photo in particular makes me laugh every time I see it.  She wasn't sure if she should climb up on the crate and once she did she had such a look of pride and "hey look at me, I am up here and I am not sure I am supposed to be up here but I am doing it!"

Every girl needs her accessories!

Awesome big brother Owen got in some of the photos too!  He seriously loves his little sister!

I have been photographing Owen since the beginning of my photography journey!  I can't believe how big he is now.  Always such a fun guy!

Daddy and Owen picked some "flowers" for Ains!  She loved them and only tried to eat them once!

Lovely Ladies!

Gorgeous family!!!

Some handsome guys right here!  Dave makes everyone laugh every time I see him! "Watch out for that car!"

Happy 1st birthday Ainsley!  As always it was good catching up with you guys and always a fun session!  Owen I owe ya double the smarties next time I see ya!!!

Colin and Lucy are 1!!! https://dawnbaer.zenfolio.com/blog/2014/4/colin-and-lucy-are-1 It is so hard to believe that my favorite twins are ONE!!!  Where has this year gone?  Gaelen and Tim, you survived!!!  All the sleepless nights, dirty diapers, and crazy newborn moments are in the review mirror!  Now you have two toddlers that are on the move and into everything!!  Let me just start with a couple of photos to see how far along these two little nuggets have grown and then I will get down to the big PARTAY they had!

Here is Lucy as a newborn!  So sweet!

And here is Colin!  I can't believe how much each of them has grown in the last year!

Ok now what they look like at one year!

Wow!  A year changes them so much!

Soooooo Big!

Such a wonderful party the twins had!

Always so great to see family and friends!

Somebody was very excited to be turning 1!

And someone else was not digging the whole turning 1 thing!

Loving every minute of mom singing happy birthday to him!

Colin needed a little encouragement to taste the cake but once he did, he was loving it!

Once Lucy was out of her chair and realized she could have some of Colin's cake she was having a great time!  Maybe the orange cake scared her?  Either way everyone got to eat cake!

Oh boy that's a lot of green frosting!!!!!

The big kids had a super fun time as well!  Can't go wrong with an indoor park!

I would say the twins first birthday party was a success!  Congrats to the twins on turning one!  Love you guys to pieces!  Now that you have tested mom and dad to the max you can ease up on them, or keep doing what you're doing and see what they are made of!  I think I know which one you guys are going to pick....

Jessica's Baby Shower 2014 https://dawnbaer.zenfolio.com/blog/2014/3/jessicas-baby-shower-2014 What a wonderful baby shower Jessica and Kevin had!  So many loving family and friends that came to wish Jessica and Kevin the best on their next chapter that will be here before they know it!

Ready for the fun to begin!

No detail was left out!!

Yay, time for the gifts!

Kevin's facial expressions while opening the gifts were priceless!

Kevin had a saying throughout the gift opening process, "You can't have just one, but you gotta have two!"

Future White Sox fans or Ballerinas?  Maybe both?

By this point of the opening of gifts Kevin was working the whole room with his commentary on the gifts!  Seriously a good time!

What a great baby shower it was!  I wish you guys the best on the next chapter of your lives!  Thank you for including me on such a special day for the both of you!  I can't wait to meet the twins!  They are definitely going to be the best dressed in town!

Jessica, Glowing Mom to Be! https://dawnbaer.zenfolio.com/blog/2014/3/jessica-glowing-mom-to-be A couple of weeks ago I had an opportunity to do another winter maternity session!  Seriously love these brave moms to be who have been willing to do a maternity session outside this winter!

This glowing mom to be is Jessica!  Doesn't she look amazing? She is expecting TWINS!

Super exciting!!!  She and Kevin seem so calm and ready for these little girls!

Can you tell it was in the 30s this day?  These two were such good sports about hanging out in the cold while I snapped away in a big jacket and snow pants!  Thanks you guys!

Even in the middle of winter we were able to find some beautiful colors for these photos!

So beautiful!

Loved this part of the session!  Such a sweet moment!

Thank you Jessica and Kevin for being such troopers out in the cold and snow that eventually fell upon us at the end of the session!  It was so nice to meet the both of you and I will see you at the baby shower!

Pam and Rett and Baby to be! https://dawnbaer.zenfolio.com/blog/2014/2/pam-and-rett-and-baby-to-be I had such a fun maternity session last weekend!  For months I have been wanting to do a maternity session in the snow. We have definitely had the snow but I didn't know who was going to be brave enough to face the elements while pregnant.  Should've known it would have been my cousin Pam!  As soon as I suggested the idea she was on board and excited!

Here are the parents to be!  YAY for good sports who didn't care if the snow was past their ankles!

Simply beautiful!

Love, Love, Love this one!  Pam I think you are glowing for sure in this one!

Rett you had to be the best sport of day after we did this shot.  In theory the snow was just suppose to go up and come back down but we didn't account for the wind and Rett got the bad end of the stick on this one.  Thank you Rett for laughing it off!

As you can see they are a fun and loving couple who I know are going to be awesome parents.  If you can laugh, that is the most important thing when you have a newborn testing your mental and physical limits!

Thanks again for a super fun session and for being such good sports about freezing your tails off!  Much Love to all three of you!

Pam and Rett's baby shower! https://dawnbaer.zenfolio.com/blog/2014/2/pam-and-retts-baby-shower What a fantastic baby shower my cousin had over the weekend!  Under the Sea was the theme and no detail was left out.  My cousin Pam and her husband are expecting their first baby in a few months and we couldn't be more excited for them!  They live a good distance from here so the shower had to happen a little early because flying will soon be off limits for my cousin.

Here are the expectant parents playing one of the shower games!  They were such good sports!

It was so great for Pam to be able to catch up with old friends!

Of course it's always great to catch up with family as well!

Our Uncle Mark never disappoints with his amazing art work!!!

Loved these invites! So creative and original!

This cake was delicious!!

And so were the cookies!

Loved the idea of leaving mom and dad some advice on a post it that was stuck to a diaper.  In those first few days those diapers will hopefully bring a smile to their face as they change diapers and try to get a few winks of sleep.

Look at these cute little nuggets!  Get ready guys, you will be the ones that little baby Tanner will look up to for ways to push mommy and daddy's buttons!

Game time!! Diaper a balloon while blindfolded.  I think this would be hard without a blindfold!! Pam and Rett did fantastic!  I have no doubt that the baby will always be diapered appropriately!

Grandma and Grandpa's turn!  I think Grandpa would have maybe won if he had a chance to review the diaper tabs first.  Grandma has had some recent practice so it may not have been a fair match!

Time for the gifts!!

Amazing quilt made by the grandma to be!

Everything the baby could need all made into a creative "cake!"

I know Pam and Rett are going to be amazing parents!  You guys know how to work as a team and remember that when its 3am and the baby is crying and it feels like you both just shut your eyes.  Strength in numbers!!  Congrats and much love to both of you!  I can't wait to meet little baby Tanner!

Alex's 3rd birthday party https://dawnbaer.zenfolio.com/blog/2014/1/alexs-3rd-birthday-party Well here it is January 2014 and what a better way to ring in the new year then to actually get caught up on editing for my own family events over the past year.  Yes I know I should keep up on my own stuff but I am bad about that.....  Tsk, tsk.

So lets take some time to flash back to June when it was sunny and warm and we celebrated Alex's 3rd birthday!

I asked Alex what kind of birthday party he wanted and of course his response was Star Wars.  I knew he would pick that but wanted to check with the birthday boy first on this important topic.  I had all kinds ideas so this was going to be a fun party to plan!

Here is the birthday boy and his sister in her Star Wars tutu!

The nice thing about your son having a ton of Star Wars stuff is no need to buy any decorations because I just used his toys to decorate with!

I really wish I could take credit for the refreshment set up but truthfully I got these ideas from Pinterest.  They were a huge hit with the adults that got the play on the words!

Star wars

The edible lightsabers where a huge hit!

Of course there had to be a Star Wars birthday cake!

Happy birthday Buddy!

Darth Vader Jello mold anyone??

Now here is where the fun really started!  I bought pool noodles and cut them in half and decorated them to look like lightsabers.  The kids loved them and the parents had some fun as well with them. Best party favors EVER!

Ahhh the force is strong with this one!

Watch out behind ya Alex, I think someone is coming in for a sneak attack!

Time for some presents!

Ok so after this party we had my side of the family over the next day. The Star Wars theme continued on....

Twinkie cupcakes! May not be a Star Wars cake but still just as tasty!

Speaking of twinkies our cousin brought her twins to their first star wars party!  They are so tiny here. Hard to believe they are fully mobile now!

More presents!

This was a really special present from my very talented uncle Mark!  He drew a picture for Alex with all his favorite things!

Simply perfect for Alex on this 3rd birthday!!

So I hope the nice warm, sunny weather was a nice change from the current snow storm that is occurring right now.

Christmas Traditions https://dawnbaer.zenfolio.com/blog/2013/12/christmas-traditions At this time of year I like to think about all the family traditions that I grew up with.  I think a lot of the holiday season is based on tradition.  One of the family traditions I remember as a child was making pierogis with my mom and dad.  A pierogi is an amazing little taste of heaven if you ask me. Essentially its a stuffed dumpling.  The fillings can range from sweet to savory.  For me though my absolute favorite is a saurkraut/mushroom filling.  It is so delicious.  I know a lot of people who love the potato/ cheese ones but those never really appealed to me.  My mom loves the sweet cheese ones. Those are good as well.  So while thinking of traditions this season I decided it was time to try and have Abby help me make pierogis.  Now I haven't made them in probably twenty years but I remembered the general concept.  Make the filling, make the dough, roll the dough, cut it, fill it and seal it.  I decided to try a new dough recipe from the one my mom used to use.  I remember that dough giving her a hard time many times so rather then set myself up for failure I decided to try a new recipe.  I decided it would be fun to document the whole process.  Love food photography. So here we go!

The line up for the filling. I decided to make the filling a couple of days ahead of time so the day we made the dough it wouldn't be an all day event.

Chop the onion.  Boil the saurkraut.  Melt the butter, mmm butter. Then saute the onions

Add the mushrooms to the onions and then add the kraut. That then simmered for a couple of hours.

Today was the big day to make the dough and hope I chose a dough recipe that would be forgiving for the first time pierogi maker.  The dough was super easy to work with, phew!

In walks my helper.  She hates eating pierogis but I figured she would at least like to help make them.

I was right, she loved to work with the dough. She helped cut out a few circles for me but her real interest was in playing with the scrap dough. That's ok because that's what I used to do when my mom made the pierogis. See tradition.

Ready to be sealed.  Doesn't it look delicious?

Tray one done.  With the dough you have to work quickly before it drys out on you so there weren't a ton of photos being taken at this point. Working against the clock here.  In the end I ended up with two and half dozen.

My other little helper who didn't have any interest to join us until we were done.  Oh well maybe next year he'll want to participate.  We are planning on having these tonight for dinner. Fingers crossed they taste good and they don't fall apart on me in the boiling process....

********  Update on the pierogis:  They were delicious! All the hard work paid off!

Ketchen Family 2013 https://dawnbaer.zenfolio.com/blog/2013/11/ketchen-family-2013 For those of you who know me well, you know that the fall is my favorite time of year!  So when Karen contacted me about doing a family session for her I was thrilled to do that for her during my favorite time of year.  I was nervous though that a November date would be too chilly or all the colorful leaves would be gone.  The stars aligned and presented the Ketchens with the most beautiful backdrop a family photo session could ask for!  I was giddy over the colors I saw when we got to our site.  Its ok that I was babbling about the colors with the Ketchens because we have known each other forever and they are like family to me.  In fact Karen was my maid of honor at my wedding, so yeah we go way back!

Gorgeous family right here!

Umm...When did this guy get all grown up?  Time goes too fast when you have kids!

Beautiful girl!  She was a perfect model for me!

Love this kid!  He was super pumped to get his photos taken this day!  Every time I asked who wanted to go first for their photos he would say, "Ooh me! Me! Me!"  That is music to my ears!

Seriously, stop growing up, please!  Thanks!

For real, look at the color of the leaves!!  Sorry still really excited about how great the colors were!  Got some handsome guys here!

Ok Karen, when I took this photo I thought, yeah that's going to be a nice one. When I got home and actually pulled it up on my computer I was speechless.  What a fantastic photo of a mother and daughter. Cherish this one, this moment will fade in your memory but you will always have this photo to remember this exact moment in time.

What's a fall session without the classic leaf toss?  Usually the kids are the ones to get in on this photo but I was super excited when mom and dad wanted in on the fun!

Ketchens I loved being able to do your family photos!  As always it was great seeing you and thanks for letting me capture such a sweet moment in your lives!

The Maerz Family https://dawnbaer.zenfolio.com/blog/2013/11/the-maerz-family Growing up, my brother and I had our moments of getting along and our moments of not getting along but now a days we are true friends.  When I met up with Margaret for our session I saw immediately that her kids were true friends.  So refreshing to see a big brother truly look out for his little sister.  I loved getting to capture such an innocence and sweetness!

Look at these adorable siblings!  Love it!

Look at this love!

For all parents that want an awesome genuine smile out of their kids, I highly recommend being completely goofy behind the photographer.  Works every time!

Total pros for the camera!

Its the simple things in life!!!

We had a visitor during our session.  Can you find the deer?

It was so nice catching up with you Margaret and meeting your sweet children!  It was such a heart warming session!

Colin & Lucy 7 months! https://dawnbaer.zenfolio.com/blog/2013/11/colin-lucy-7-months What a great way I got to spend a Sunday morning!  The twins are growing so fast! I wish I could find a pause button for these little nuggets!  They are on their way to crawling and I think there may be some teeth on the way!  7 months is one of my favorite ages to capture!  They were full of smiles and laughs!  I think some of that had to do with their humorous parents who will stop at nothing to get a giggle out of them!

First the serious pose.  Then the smiles were on!  They can't talk yet but I swear they have some secret language or way of communicating with each other. Watch out mom and dad, there may be some plotting for world take over....

7 months is also fun because of all the exploration they like to do.  Something as simple as a pumpkin kept they entertained for at least 5 minutes which in baby time is super long!

This photo speaks volumes!  Gaelen and Tim are amazing parents! They have their hands full but they are never short on the love, snuggles and hugs!  Seriously love this photo!

These two guys love the camera!  Colin is such a laid back baby. Smiles the whole time!

More smiles from the ladies!  With Lucy you have to put some work into getting those smiles but once you do it is beyond priceless!

Enjoying their first wagon ride!  I think they loved it!

More family love here!

Ok, could they be any cuter??!!

No words for the cuteness here!

I love you little nuggets with all my heart!  Please keep being the cutest twins on the planet and stop growing so fast!  Gaelen and Tim keep up the amazing job and give these guys an extra squeeze for me!

What an adorable little girl I got to meet and photograph last week!  Claire is going to be one soon!  We had lots of fun taking photos and exploring nature, and by exploring nature I mean Claire trying to eat every leaf she could get in her tiny hands, LOL!  She was such a doll to work with!

Annie and David Engagement! https://dawnbaer.zenfolio.com/blog/2013/11/annie-and-david-engagement

What a fantastic day it turned out be for David and Annie's engagement photos!  I thought when I woke up that we would have some clouds to contend with but after I got to our location it was clear and sunny! Truly when I think of Annie and David together I think Sunny.  They are always laughing and easy going.  I couldn't be happier for the two of them.  They are a perfect match!  Annie is my husband's cousin so I have known her for 10 years and David came into the picture a couple of years ago.  I knew David was a good egg when I saw him playing with my kids at a family party.  He survived the human jungle gym game and continued to come back to family functions AND he would bring these amazing dishes.  Annie you got yourself a great guy and you deserve every bit of it!  Congrats to the both of you on your up coming nuptials!

Thanks you guys for a fun morning and giving me the opportunity to capture such an exciting stage in your lives!  Love you both!

Jane & Alan's wedding shower https://dawnbaer.zenfolio.com/blog/2013/10/jane-alans-wedding-shower

Oh what a fantastic day it turned out to be for my cousin Jane's wedding shower!  The air was a typical fall day, crisp and cool but the sun was shining brighter then could be.  All of this fit in perfectly with the venue and the theme (which of course was a fall theme) of Jane and Alan's wedding shower

Loved all the decorations from the little pumpkins to the simple, yet elegant center pieces!!

The little tree with the leaves was probably one of my favorite details.  Leaf Some Advice and everyone could take the opportunity to give the happy couple some marriage advice or well wishes.   The sign with Jane and Alan's name was so original and pretty!  Oh what's that I see hiding in the little tree, yes it's an owl!  Jane and Alan registered for several Owl themed items and every time they would open one up, the look on their faces was so cute!

Moms of the bride and groom!  Truly a pleasure meeting you Joan!

Proud mom and her girls!

My lovely cousins and one of my amazing aunts here!

Time for some mingling and catching up!

Some delicious treats that were tempting me all afternoon long!

And let the gift opening begin!!

If its one thing I love about showers, its the handmade items that are given!!

The girl scout themed apron was a super fun gift!!

I think Jane's expression in the top photo says it all for her excitement for the Owl items!

Jane's mom made this amazing quilt!  The stories about this quilt being made is what really makes this quilt amazing!  Hey Jane do you know how many times you surprised your mom by coming home early or unexpected and she had to hide all of it in 10 seconds??

Kim, the expert bow/bouquet assembler!  I had many laughs with you on this Kim! You did a fantastic job!

One last game for the happy couple to participate in!  It was really funny watching your answers you guys!

One last photo of the future bride and groom to be!  I wish you guys all the best and can't wait to watch you guys as your start a new journey in the book of Life!  Love you both and looking forward to the big day!

Wadhams/ Grasso Family https://dawnbaer.zenfolio.com/blog/2013/10/wadhams/-grasso-family

What a fun session I got to photograph last weekend!  A friend of mine from grammar school contacted me and wanted to know if I could photograph her family and her sister in law's family as a surprise for Nana for Christmas.  I thought what an awesome idea!  So we set a date and the morning of Michelle contacted me to let me know that Nana found out about the photos and she was coming as well.  Too bad the surprise got leaked but it turned out even better that way because Nana was able to be in the photos as well!

Look at all these cute kids!

Nice big smiles!  Hooray for funny parents dancing around behind me!

Sisters!!  I bet they have their disagreements but one day they will be grateful for each other and maybe even best friends!

Nate is going to be 2! https://dawnbaer.zenfolio.com/blog/2013/10/nate-is-going-to-be-2 Nate is going to be 2!!

Well last Saturday was a one of those days where it was cloudy and gloomy with rain pending.  All the forecasts said rain all afternoon.  I had a session planned for late afternoon.  As the time came to make the call if it was going to be canceled the sun started to peek out!  We decided to go ahead with the session and boy am I glad we did!  It turned out to be gorgeous!

Meet Nate!  He is going to be 2 very soon.  He is also going to be a big brother in January!  Big things are happening for this little guy!

I had an awesome surprise for this cutie, a peddle car!  He really was fascinated by it. What little boy wouldn't be?  He loves cars and trucks. Every time a car would drive past he would watch it until it was out of sight.  I believe that's what he was looking at in the bottom right photo.

We had such fun with all the freshly fallen leaves!  Its really the simple things when you're almost 2.

We also had some fun playing peek a boo around the large trees!  Such a handsome fella!

It was so great seeing you guys!  Thanks for the fun and laughs!

Apple picking and donuts! https://dawnbaer.zenfolio.com/blog/2013/9/apple-picking-and-donuts Apple picking and DONUTS!

Aaaaahhh  it's that magical time of year.  A time of year when mother nature puts on her most splendid display of colors, tickles our senses with different smells and sounds, and allows even adults to travel back to their childhood memoriesIts FALL!!!  This is my most favorite time of year.  I just love the crisp air, the beautiful displays of colors on each branch, pumpkin spiced lattes, apples pies, just everything about this time of year.  Halloween is probably my favorite holiday as well.  So I really get excited when Fall arrives.  Every year I have a checklist that I like to complete before winter decides to stop in for 5 months and give us all cabin fever.  One of those items on the list is a trip to County Line Orchard in Hobart, Indiana.  The kids love this place because of all the fun activities for them.  My husband and I indulge them this trip mainly because of the DONUTS that they bake up fresh around the clock.  Pumpkin and Apple donuts. Seriously the best donuts I have ever tasted.  We usually make that our first stop before we get started with the rest of the activities they have to offer.

Seriously some awesome donuts!

After donuts we hit the petting zoo. You can buy a bag of feed and let the different animals eat right from your hands.  I typically let my husband be in charge of this because I am grossed out by these animals licking my hands.  The kids love it!

Next up is the corn maze!  This year they did two corn mazes with the Black Hawks.  Abby loves these type of cut out displays.  Always a good laugh.  This years corn maze was a good one. Took us a while to get through it.

Of course we had to hit the moo-choo train while we were there.  This was Alex's first time riding solo and he did great but did look a little scared when they got back......

The last part of our trip was apple picking.  You can take a tractor ride out to the orchard and they drop you off and you start picking.  The kids had a hard time not picking every single apple they could reach.  I had to remind them to slow down because we didn't need 50 lbs of apples.

Big fan of the apple picking!

You see that shadow at the bottom of this photo? Yep that's the only proof that I was on this adventure with them. I seriously need to teach Steve to use my camera.

I can't recommend it enough to take a trip to County Line orchard if you can!  It is a great way to spend a Saturday.  Plenty of exercise, fresh air, apples and DONUTS!

Colin and Lucy's Baptism https://dawnbaer.zenfolio.com/blog/2013/9/colin-and-lucys-baptism Colin and Lucy's Baptism

Last Sunday was a beautiful day for a baptism!  Colin and Lucy are officially a part of the catholic church!  When I arrived Colin was completely crashed out on Dad's lap. No nerves for that little guy.  Lucy was greeting all her guests with some vocalization.  Amazes me how twins can be so different.

So cute!

Such a beautiful church.

First up, Lucy.  She did really well with it.

Next up, Colin!  He wasn't quite sure what to make of the whole experience.

Most of the Bell family, myself excluded of course, someone has to take the photo!

Lucy checking out uncle Chris!

The kids are totally disinterested at this point with all the photos, lol!

Very Proud Grandparents!

Welcome to the catholic church Colin and Lucy! God Bless each of you!

Miss Ella! https://dawnbaer.zenfolio.com/blog/2013/9/miss-ella

Miss Ella

Oh my I had a ball photographing this little beauty!  What a perfect sweet angel she was for me at her session!  Love it when it works out that way!  Ella belongs to a good set of friends that truly are family to us.  I couldn't be happier for them and their newest arrival!

One of the first photos I snapped was of her smiling!  She is a happy and content baby for sure!

Gorgeous!

Love sleeping babies!  She was so content that I didn't want to disturb her.

Love the little smirk she has in this photo!

I always like to try to capture all the little details with newborns. So much of it wears off in the first few weeks.

Emily and Jim you guys are going to have your hands full when she gets to dating age, she is absolutely perfect in every definition of the word!  Love you guys and congrats on your newest blessing!

Jania Family 2013 https://dawnbaer.zenfolio.com/blog/2013/9/jania-family-2013 The Jania Family

Had an opportunity to photograph some dear friends over the weekend and as always we had a ton of fun!  Gracie 7, Jack 4, and Emma 2 all kept me laughing and on the go!!

How sweet are these guys??!!

Speak no evil, hear no evil and see no evil!  The kids got a kick out of this game!

Emma's personality shining through on this photo!

Lots of fun sights to see on this nature walk!

Look at the beautiful Grace!  She is such a great helper with her younger siblings.

Jack the handsome and funny guy!  During our session I promised the kids if they were good they could have a special treat.  I wouldn't tell them what it was. Out of no where Jack says, "Do you have a pancake in your bag?"  Love it!

Sweet Emma!!  I have been photographing her since she was a newborn. She is such a sweetheart!

Such a great group of siblings!

So I knew that we would have to utilize one of the last remaining phone booths that I am aware of in my area.  When I called Jen to tell her about it she was ready with the shirt and knew it would be a fun set of photos for Jack!

Such a beautiful family!  Thanks for the laughs and the opportunity to photograph all of you!

Owen is 5 & Ainsley is 11wks new https://dawnbaer.zenfolio.com/blog/2013/8/owen-is-5-ainsley-is-11wks-new A big year for Owen!

Well where do I start with this amazing family?  I have known Syd since grammar school and Dave since high school.  So its safe to say that we have known each other for a long time and are super comfortable with each other.  This might be one of the reasons I always have a blast with them when it comes time to do a session with them.  This year Owen turned 5!  That is huge for kids!  It means that they are also starting kindergarten!  There is also something else that happened for Owen this year, he became a big brother!!  I would say that its a big year for Owen!  So when planning out this session Syd told me how excited Owen was to be starting kindergarten so that's when I decided that a back to school theme would be awesome for him.  I think its safe to say that he had a fun time with all the props that came along with this themed session.

Owen's smile is contagious!

This guy loved the abacus once we explained what it was for.  He was counting by 10s within seconds of discovering this abacus!

Once the nerd glasses came out then I knew we would have a little ham on our hands!

Time to be serious!  It only lasted about 1 minute but we made the most of that minute.

And back to the fun with some action shots!

Meet Ainsley!  Isn't she a doll?!

What a sweetheart she is!

Loved her little smiles!

You are going to have your hands full when she reaches her teenage years....

As always you guys rocked your session and I had such a fun time with Owen and meeting your newest addition!!

Kindergarten bound!! https://dawnbaer.zenfolio.com/blog/2013/8/kindergarten-bound Kindergarten Bound!

Well today was the big day, Abby started kindergarten!  Honestly I don't know where the last 5 years have gone.  One minute she was crawling, then walking, then off to kindergarten or at least that's how it seems to me.  This past week leading up to today I have been thinking about how our lives were going to change with Abby going to school full time. No more lounging around in the morning, no more spur of the moment trips to the zoo, lunch dates or movie days on rainy days like today.  Does it bring me to tears thinking about my little girl being in school without my help, yes.  I am being honest here.  I hear so many moms saying, "oh this is so great that so and so is starting school.  What a great new journey for them!"  I really want to be that mom but instead I am the mom that cried when the bus pulled away without so much as a wave.  I am the mom that's going to miss my little helper/buddy.  I do know that this is what needed to happen.  I will adjust and so will my son who now gets my undivided attention for many hours a day. This will be good for all of us!  I know this, but today I am going to be sad and probably break down into tears through out the day until she gets home.  Yes I am counting down the hours until she gets home and I can hear all about her first day of school!  So while I wait for 2:30 to come I am going to post this for any other moms that may be in my shoes today.  In my opinion, its ok to be sad and miss the days that used to be.  New things are coming and they will be just as great but today its ok to be sad.

This is who I saw getting on the bus today. This tiny little cutie!  In my mind she will always look like this.

This is who really got on the bus today.  This big girl who was beyond excited to get on that bus and start her first day of kindergarten!

She is going to do awesome today, no doubt in my mind!

Oh the places she will go!

5 minutes before the bus came and picked her up!

Enjoy your first day of kindergarten sweet pea!  This is the first of many!

Happy Hannah at 9 months! https://dawnbaer.zenfolio.com/blog/2013/8/happy-hannah-at-9-months

Happy Hannah ~ 9 months!

What a treat I had this past Sunday!  I got to meet an amazing family and their adorable 9 month old Hannah!  I absolutely love photographing 9 month olds! They are generally happy little campers, they're not quite on the move yet and they are starting to show their personalities.  Hannah was no exception to this!  What a happy, beautiful baby girl!

Look at this cuteness!!  Mom did an amazing job picking out her wardrobe for this session!

Every girl needs a set of pearls!!

Mom and dad had a lot of entertaining tricks to get this little one into smiley mode!

9 month girl

Love this smile!!!

Special hugs and snuggles for mom.

This family is beautiful inside and out!

I had to share this one.  Look at Hannah's little personality shining through in this photo!

Just precious!

It was such a pleasure meeting all of you!  Thanks for letting me capture such a fun milestone!

Kylie is 2! Fun times with big brother Blake! https://dawnbaer.zenfolio.com/blog/2013/8/kylie-is-2-fun-times-with-big-brother-blake

Kylie is 2! Fun times with big brother Blake!

Last week I had the pleasure of photographing an adorable 2 yr old and handsome young man.   The weather was perfect, sunny and not too hot. Location was just right for these two siblings!  I have been photographing Kylie since she was a newborn and each session she does not disappoint in her cuteness.  I will say that she increases her speed every time I see her!  Blake is her older brother.  He will be entering high school this year and I can't believe it!  I met him about 10 years ago so in my mind he will always be this polite little boy but he is definitely growing up into a polite young man.

2 yr old girl

Look at this cutie!!

Two seconds into the session the smiles started!

2 yr old girl

After this photo was taken she was on the run the rest of the session!

Big brother Blake to the rescue as far as keeping Kylie in one spot for stationary photos!

This book was perfect for these two!  The love between the two of them is amazing!  Kylie wants to do everything Blake does and Blake has a patience with her that is impressive for any kid his age.

Look at that admiration out of her!!  Melts my heart!

Blake you are an awesome big brother!

Always have time for a little twirling when you're a 2 year old girl in a fancy dress!

2 yr old girl

Pretty sure Blake was behind me doing something to entertain Kylie when I got this shot!

Look at what we found on our little hike! I was amused by Blake's fascination with the phone booth.  Its been years since I have seen one and I was surprised Blake knew what it was!

Future model??

Fulton is 8 months old! Fun at the the Park and Bubble Baths! https://dawnbaer.zenfolio.com/blog/2013/7/fulton-is-8-months-old-fun-at-the-the-park-and-bubble-baths Fulton is 8 months old!  Fun at the park and a bubble bath!

I got to spend an awesome afternoon with a super cute little guy and some dear friends this past weekend.  Whenever we get together it is always a lot of laughs and great memories.  I have had the awesome opportunity to photograph Fulton since he was in his mama's belly.  It has been great seeing him grow over the last 8 months.  He just started crawling so he is officially on the move!!!

For this session we decided to start off at a beautiful park by their house.  I always love finding a new beautiful location!

Look at this beautiful family!

Another special person joined us for Fulton's 8 month session!  Grandma is such a sweet lady and absolutely loves her grandson!

Fulton just became mobile so on his hands and knees was a popular pose for him that day. He just wanted to take off and test out his new independence.

During this session mom, dad and grandma went through great lengths to entertain Fulton and get some smiles.  Oh how I wish I could've seen what they were doing behind me because whatever it was certainly had Fulton in full smile mode!

Can't even handle this cuteness exuding from this photo!!!

Of course a chalkboard tastes delicious!

After being attacked by the biggest swarm of mosquitoes I have ever seen we decided to change locations.  This was a fun spot because Fulton was so interested in the gravel.  Love this age of exploration!

Here is a sweet photo of mom and Fulton!

Another great family photo!  Thanks to Grandma for playing a fantastic game of peek a boo to get these smiles!

Fulton loved being up so high on Daddy's shoulders!

There is no denying the special grandma/ grandson bond that these two have.

Ok this part of the session is an idea that I have had in my mind for over a year and just couldn't pull it off until now.  Fulton loved it!!  This was the first time he had such a large amount of bubbles in a tub with him.

Have I mentioned how much I love his fluffy hair!!!  So darn cute!!!

Special thanks to a good friend who was also visiting that day and keeping Fulton in stitches!  Emily you can tag along with me anytime!!

Adorable!

Why hello handsome!

I just love the pure joy on his face in this photo!!

That's a wrap folks!  Thank you Misty and Steve for the great day with Fulton!!!

Adventures in the backyard https://dawnbaer.zenfolio.com/blog/2013/7/adventures-in-the-back-yard

Camping adventure.....in our own backyard!

So the kids have been asking about camping.  My husband and I love to camp and have taken a break from it for the last 5 years because it just didn't seem possible to camp with two young kids and two dogs.  So this year we decided it was time to bust back into the camping scene, full well knowing that it may end up with all of us back in the house before midnight.  So instead of driving to a campground we decided to give it a try in our own backyard. If anyone got scared we could easily call it a night and head into the house.   The kids were beyond excited! And I will admit that I was too!  The kids were mainly interested in making smores and then sleeping on an air mattress.  Doesn't take much to impress kids.

Here are my little campers all ready to have their first camp out!

What the kids were most excited about!

Lots of supervision with this process!

Complete concentration for Abby!

The length of their sticks cracks me up but its absolutely necessary at this age!

Now the agonizing wait for the smore to cool....  I am right there with ya Abby!

Aahhhh the sweet taste of patience!

Alex isn't quite sure about the mess of it, but he learns to live with the sticky fingers.

Oh no!!!  You are going to mess with the balance of the smore if you open it!!!  He is all about opening things up to see whats inside and the smore was no exception.  I did convince him it was easier to eat and tasted better if it was put back together.

Yep that's the look of the sugar high settling in!

Another kid off to a sugar rush.....

After the smores we had to take baths (another great option when you camp in your own backyard).  So while Abby was inside Alex got the whole tent to himself, minus me and my camera.  His favorite activity was jumping on all the air mattresses and messing up the sleeping bags.

For a brief moment he did stop to take a break.  Something about this photo just grabs me.  The wonderment of being a kid??  I don't know but its one of my new favorites!

As hard as I tried this was the best photo I could get of the both of them together. By this point the smore sugar rush was in full swing and they didn't want to pose for a photo.  They are themselves here and that's perfect for me!

All tucked in and ready for bedtime!  Bedtime didn't come until much much later for everyone.....  It was the 5th of July when we did this and most of my neighbors where still finishing off their stash of fireworks.  So we had lots of loud fire works to lull us to sleep.  We made it through the night which I did not expect!  At 4:45am the birds decided to have a community meeting in our backyard.  Of course it woke the kids up and then us.  So at 5am we trucked into the house for some quiet movie time while Steve and I cat napped.  It was a great time and the kids are still talking about it.  I love that we were able to provide them with such a fun memory!  Now if I could just figure out a way to install room darkening shades in the tent I will be more then ready for the next camping trip!

Look out world Alex is 3! https://dawnbaer.zenfolio.com/blog/2013/6/look-out-world-alex-is-3 Well little man turned 3 last week!  So many different emotions that came with this birthday for me.  Look he is a big boy now, YAY!  Wait he is a big boy now, waaaaaahhhhh!  Where has the last three years gone?  I feel like it was just yesterday that we brought him home full of confidence that we were going to master the newborn thing the second time around......  Well we did do better I think then when we brought Abby home but I think it was because I was already so sleep deprived the 2nd time around that I missed the mistakes and focused on getting through another day with a 2 yr old and a newborn.  What they say is true, after the 1st one the 2nd one goes on so many more adventures early in the game. You have no choice but to take that new baby out when you have a 2 yr old that doesn't understand staying home for the sake of a baby.  I think those early adventures and fearlessness is what has made Alex the boy he is today.  A boy who loves a new challenge and usually will jump right in if his older sister is doing it.  I do love that.  There are still many instances that Alex still wants my hand to hold or time to cuddle but I also know that with each passing day those instances are going to become less and less.  So when he grabs my hand or asks me to push him on a swing I savor it.  So with his 3rd birthday approaching faster then I was ready I started thinking about what I could do as far as photos for him.  He loves Star Wars, Indiana Jones and superheros.  Indiana Jones is a tough one so I thought more about Star Wars and Superheros.    I decided we would incorporate both.  So off to the fabric store I went to get fabric for a superhero cape.  He was actually delighted to be my model so taking these photos was a breeze!

The pool noodle you see is actually a light saber from his birthday party.  The kids had a blast with these and it was such a quick and easy party favor.

Ready for Daddy and a light saber fight!

Here is one of those instances that I could not have planned or asked him to do.  Just as he and Daddy where walking ahead of me he did that turn back to make sure I was still there.  Melts my heart.

What I see here is two superheros!  Truly a moment captured in time.

Every superhero needs to be able to fly, even if its with some help from his dad!

There are many expressions that Alex has. This one is the mischievous one!

Here is the innocent, genuine expression that I love so much!

And this is the goofball that I see more and more each day!  This guy is developing a sense of humor on him that makes me proud!!!

Can't forget the superhero sibling who also required her own cape. Girls can also be superheros!

Yep double dimples on his chin!  I don't see them as often as I did when he was a chubby baby but every once and a while I will catch those dimples.

No words for this handsome cuteness!

As I was taking Alex's photos he pointed to something on the ground.  I didn't really see what he was pointing at until a couple of minutes later......huge garter snake!!  That was our cue to move on out of this location!!!

Happy 3rd birthday to my amazing superhero!!!

Baby Lucy and Baby Colin https://dawnbaer.zenfolio.com/blog/2013/5/baby-lucy-and-baby-colin

Baby Lucy and Baby Colin

So about a year ago I received a text from my cousin Gaelen.  The text had a photo of the two of us together (me about 9 months pregnant with my little guy).  The text said, "Who would've thought that these two kids would one day have two kids of their own?"  I reread the text about three times and then consulted with my husband on what exactly it meant.  Could it be that my cousin Gaelen was pregnant?  Wait, she said two kids.... NO WAY, TWINS???!!!!  I immediately called her back and she was beyond excited to share the news that her and her husband Tim were indeed expecting twins or "The Twinkies" as we nick named them.  And so the long journey of pregnancy publicly began for Tim and Gaelen.  From the start Gaelen was up to speed on what the twins needed from her and what she needed to be doing for herself to ensure a healthy pregnancy.  I marveled at the amount of water she would consume through out the day.  She had one goal, get those twins as close to the full term as possible.  And she did AMAZING!!  I know at the end it was rough but I had no doubt that once she set her eyes on the prize she would accomplish it.   Hats off to you Gaelen because I think I would have given up about month 7.....  The twinkies arrived on April 3rd 2013.  Both were healthy and mom did great with the support of her husband Tim.   I am so happy for them and I know our entire family is so happy to welcome Lucy and Colin to our crazy family.  So without further delay let me introduce the twinkies, nuggets or better now known and Lucy and Colin!

Here is Lucy!!!  Taking a sweet little nap in her crib.  This was the first time I met her and couldn't get over the amount of hair this tiny little baby had!

Another sweet image of such a precious angel!

Little brother Colin was up next for some quick photos while he napped so peacefully.  I love watching newborns sleep. There is something so calming about it.

Almost looks like he is smiling in this image.

Now that is a definite grin with Daddy!!  Its moments like this that you just want to remember forever but unless you capture it with a photo its very easy to forget as they get bigger.

Tim has dived into all the duties that go along with newborns flawlessly.  Gaelen and Tim make a fantastic team!  I remember telling Gaelen early in the pregnancy, "As long as you both act as a team you will survive the early months."

Ok this photo makes me smile because in my mind Colin is telling Lucy a joke by the expressions on their faces!

No words for this except LOVE!

What girl doesn't look good in purple?

Look at this cuteness!!!  Just can't handle it!!!

I swear it looks like Colin is telling another joke!  Love it!

One last photo of newborn twin sweetness!  We wanted so badly to get a photo of them holding hands but with all the attempts this is the closest we got and to me its perfect!

Congrats again to Tim and Gaelen!  You made some beautiful babies!!!

Indiana Jones and Blocks https://dawnbaer.zenfolio.com/blog/2013/4/indiana-jones-and-blocks

So lately Alex has been on an Indiana Jones kick.  Like he wants to watch it every day and wants to be him.  I personally didn't want him watching those movies for a few more years but one day while I was out someone (I won't mention any names here) let him watch one and the obsession started.  Right now I am trying to "wean" him off the movies.....

So here is Alex wearing his "Indiana Jones" attire.  Yes its really a cowboy hat and cowboy vest but he insists it makes him Indiana Jones. Oh and the shoes are also part of the outfit....

So everyday after he wakes up he puts his uniform on.  So these photos were really to capture that aspect of his Indiana Jones phase but building blocks where the only way to keep him in one spot so I could actually capture him sitting still.  Gotta be sneaky with toddlers and a camera....

After I introduced the blocks he didn't even know I was there. See, sneaky ninja photographer!

Look at that concentration!!  When he wants he can really get engrossed in certain activities.

This may be the tallest tower I have seen him build!

Look at how proud he is!!!  Love it!!

Well the block building came to an end after only 30 minutes but for Alex that is a long amount of time to spend on a activity.  Love how he is tapping his foot in this photo!

Abby is 5!! https://dawnbaer.zenfolio.com/blog/2013/3/abby-is-5            Well another year has passed and I truly don't know how it went so fast.  Hard to believe I have been a parent for 5 years now!!  From the very start I have had the ability to stay home with Abby and I am so blessed to have such an amazing opportunity that I know many moms don't have, so for that I am grateful.  Even being home everyday with my kids I feel so much of it has passed and I feel like I missed things but I know I haven't because I have been here everyday.  In the first few years I was like any parent with a point and shoot camera snapping away.  But I was bad about backing up photos and I lost a lot of photos of Abby when she was a baby and the first 2 years of her life when my old laptop crashed.  When Alex came along my husband bought a nice dslr camera that I had no idea how to use.  After MUCH trial and error and lots of reading of tutorials and several classes and workshops later I finally feel like I am doing a good job of documenting my kids adventures and everyday chaos.  So I wanted to share this blog with the latest milestone birthday photos.  Happy golden birthday to my amazing daughter!

Amazing close up portrait that she never lets me do.  She says she doesn't like her photo being taken but how can I oblige her that when she is such a perfect model.  Sorry but I am going to chase her down with a camera for the rest of her life weather she likes it or not!

Abby showing me some of the ballet moves she has learned in class.

"What?!!!  It's ok to jump on the bed????!!"   Yes anything for the sake of a good photo is my motto as long as its safe.

I love capturing the little details.  I know its just a set of feet to some but for me, these feet will only be this size for a short amount of time so I want to be sure to capture it.

Abby and her doll Isabelle.  Abby loves her dolls and to be a "little mom."  I love watching her play when she thinks no one is watching.

While we were shooting these photos Alex woke up from his nap and was happily singing the Indiana Jones theme from his room.  Abby and I could not stop laughing when we heard him!

Time for serious shot after all the giggles were done!

Something about this image just gets me every time I see it.  Not sure what it is.  Just a sense of innocence I guess. I love it!

Abby loves her fairy tales and wearing her fairy wings!   I love this stage in her life!  Its so much fun for the both of us!

                                                                     Happy birthday sweet pea!

We got to explore, look for turtles and most importantly we got to play super heroes!  Happy Birthday to the sweetest little guy a mom and dad could ever ask for!
